Ancient song of the hunting for the Dai

On having come to the place of the hunting,
we all split.
The men in line doing groups,
they divide his forces at the edge of the way.
The women prepare themselves doing tiers,
and they enter the forest doing noise.

Hu hu hu, wa wa wa
Hu hu hu, shah shah shah

The deer goes out running,
tigers and leopards are thrown out.
The prepared men shout,
and raising his stakes they strike them.
They kill to sticks to the tiger, kill to the deer.
With the fawn that they catch I live,
they all play contentments
With his satisfied hearts,
the lianas are distributed.
At once they do jumping poles,
to that they tie the paws of the wild animals,
raising them they return to house

To return to house,
to divide the meat,
to divide the bones,
to divide the entrails,
to eat up to getting fed up.
