Myths and songs of the Deang

The peoples Deang have a rich oral literature. Of between his myths he emphasizes "The ancestors believe the world". It is the fundamental myth of the peoples Deang, and an essential document climbing vine to know his customs. In him one shows to Potare, the creator, directing the creation of the world and of the humanity. The last one, in fact, descends from the tea leaves, which left the sky, and thousand calamities happened, to give birth to the human race on the ground. The origin of the branches of the Deang, it tells us how in the ancient times a woman dragon had three children with his husband bird. That are the ancestors of three branches Deang, known popularly like Deang Rojos, Deang Negros and Deang Floridos.

Also they have numerous stories, like: "The frog and the needlewoman", "Two friends", "Three strange things", "The death of the rat", etc

In the chapter of the songs of love, he emphasizes the creativity of the peoples Deang. As every aspect of the relation of couple goes to accompanied by songs, they have reached an impressive beauty.

Between them he emphasizes the "sad Song of the lusheng" who narrates a tragic story of love frustrated by the parents of the girl. According to the tradition, after this sad event, there won the girls of the peoples Deang, the freedom of choosing his husband.

Between his musical instruments they stand out:

- different types of flutes.

- drum of paw of elephant (fellow man to that of the Dai).

- wooden drum.

- sanxian (Chinese name of an instrument of three (san) ropes (xian))

- sixian (Chinese name of an instrument of four (if) ropes (xian)).
