Religion of the Hani

The Hani are polytheistic. His principal cults are the one that they produce to his ancestors and to the different natural phenomena.

It is for it that his principal gods:

  • God of the Sky.
  • Goddess of the Earth
  • Tree Dragon
  • Gods of the Village
  • Gods of the family.

Since they all can bring the good or the misfortune to the people, they do numerous sacrifices to them. Especially to the Tree Dragon, protector of the spice humanizes, to that every year animals sacrifice themselves.

They have priests called Ruma in the region of Xishuangbanna, who are in charge of presiding at the most important ceremonies, considered by all intermediaries between the world of the men and that of the gods. These Ruma study from children and turn into powerful men inside the society.

Also the Beima exist, specialized in expelling to the spirits and opening the way to the dead persons, and the Nima, which act like fortune tellers and doing medicines. In other regions there are called they of different form although they realize similar functions.
