History of the Jino

The proper traditions of the Jinos make to think that they are not the original inhabitants of his current grounds. They have had to of emigrating from not very distant region, since following the way that they show to the dead persons to return to the ground of the ancestors during the funerals, it was possible to have planned with certain precision the migrations of the Jinos.

The Jinos think that the world was created by a goddess it was calling Amoyaobai. Also, each of the branches from the Jinos ancestor is considered to be in turn caused by one. It is possible that they are in the area through that they live now from the XIIIth century more or less. According to his legends confirmed in some aspects by the chronicles of the Dai, there was a queen jino between the Dai, married with one of the Kings of Xishuangbanna, whose son also became a king.

There are numerous reasons to believe that during most of the history of the Jinos his society was a matriarchy. They have themselves several myths that they narrate like the matriarchal society it passed one of patriarchal type. In general they think that the transformation of the society stemmed on one hand from the introduction of hardware and weapon of iron between them, and for other one to the militarization of some sectors of the masculine society.

In the middle of the XXth century, in 1942 a cult arose milenarista between them that his social structure shook. In many villages they stopped the traditional ceremonies in honor of the goddesses Bailebao and Mopei, and they have not turned to recapture, getting lost the rites and myths associated with them.

The Communist Party initiated his reforms between the Jinos in the year 1955. After his territory has been designated like forest area, jino it could have gone supporting the culture and adapt to the new economic and social conditions.
