Problems that threaten the Kucong

1. The absence of recognition of the Kucong as a differentiated ethnic group is not a question merely academic, but it has important practical consequences.

2. The Kucong are one of the poorest ethnic groups of China. His possibility of survival is closely tied to the annual climatic cycle, what they fuerze to depend, frequently, on the external help of the government, for the survival.

3. In spite of his poverty, due to his not recognition, they are not included between 22 small minorities for which the ADB (Banco Asiático of Development) and the Chinese government has established a plan of poverty alleviation and cultural preservation.
