TO INVITE TO THE SPIRITS TO EAT COW.
It is realized when someone is sick in long time or dreams often of his dead ancestors. One believes that it is because the spirit of the ancestors asks for meal again. Then a cow kills itself and it offers him to itself in a long ceremony that lasts the whole night. It consists of the following seven rites:
TO INVITE THAT TAKES THE COW
After killing itself to the cow there takes the head, the tail and four paws, and they are placed on a grass mat in the door of the house of the patient, and a man with a blue garment, a red turban and arch and arrows in his hands, before the gift it calls the ancestors by his name, inviting them to to come for the meat and liberate the patient of his pain.
TO INVITE THE ANCESTORS TO EAT THE COW
Then the beef is cooked, and colocámdola in a bowl or in a spike, it puts itself in the place of the ceremony, and the priest calls one again by one the ancestors for his name, asking them to eat up the meat and to liberate the patient of his pain.
READING THE PEDIGREE OF THE CLAN
On the same night all the people of the village meet before the house of the patient touching the gong and the drums. THE MAIDEN CALLS TO THE SOUL
In the room of the patient an altarcito is placed. And in him a sail, a bowl of wine, other of meat, other of rice, etc. A man disguises of woman black's garment, with a black cap, taking in the hand a knife, an arrow and a sheet of white creeper. Opposite to the altar it realizes the ceremony, reading the conjurations to the rhythm that marks the drum and the gong, it calls to the soul of the patient. This way it happens the whole night.
TO DANCE THE DANCE OF THE ANCESTORS
A shaman taking in the hand a red creeper sheet directs it, others are dressed to his taste. To the rhythm of the drum and of the gong they dance in the house of the patient, moving continuously between the place where the altar and the deceased is placed, they do movements and sounds of calling to the soul.
TO PLACE THE SAFETY TAPE
On the following morning, the shaman places in the neck and in the doll of the patient three tapes of blue, red and green color, which are like a protection; and a copper currency in his breast. While the priest hangs on the door of the patient the low jaw of the cow and a few white sheets of of creeper. This serves to expel to the spirits.
