This book, like most of those of his series, tries to present a detailed panorama of the literature lisu. For it it divides his works according to the date of composition. This way the compound literature of the Lisu presents long ago (before the Tang), ancient times (from the Tang until the XIXth century), modern times (Up to the revolution of 1949) and current times. Somewhat arbitrary division for some, which reflects almost more the Chinese literary history that that of the proper Lisu, it is for it for that the works considered to be the most ancient are the poems (as in the Shijing or Book of the Singings)
