Some taboos of the Lisu

Between the Lisu that live on the border through west of the province of Yunnan, there are numerous taboos that each of his activities regulate, them awarding, in certain form, a sacred character. Most of these taboos have in turn a practical reason, reflect the correct way of realizing every activity endorsed by his tradition.

Some of the most curious present here:

Between the taboos that there observe the Lisu related to his agricultural activities, there are many related to the sowing. The majority destined to guarantee his success, and that neither the animals nor the natural phenomena, they begin to lose it.

It is not necessary to plant when there is full moon, since there moves the danger of which the insects eat the harvests. It is not also necessary to sow corn in the pretty day, since one believes that when this one matures the monkeys they will go so far as to eat up it. With regard to the wind they have several taboos. If a strong wind blows when the corn is in flower, the women cannot weave, if they it do the corn it will not be enough to satisfy them.

In July and August, when sometimes big rains happen with collapses that take the harvests, stones cannot pull at the water. Since they believe that they can wake up Atusni, the god of the waters. In this date neither trees nor big bambúes can be cut in the mountain.
