Marriage of the Shui

The marriage is realized out of the clan, between persons of the same generation. The violations of these rules could go so far as to be punished by the fall from a height. The cousin was preferring on other claimants. Otherwise they had prematrimonial sexual freedom and of spouse's election.

Before the wedding there was a big holiday where the relatives of the fiancé were offering and entertaining to those of the fiancée, for three days it was celebrated and abundant alcohol was consumed, and one was asking for the date of birth of the girl. Then date was chosen auspiciosa, and in her friends of the fiancé were going for the fiancée, that well adorned and accompanied by women of his family, it was going to house of the fiancé.

The wedding lasted three days during which he was greeting all the families of the village, then the fiancée was returning where his parents, and the proper husband was going to look for it spent a few days, and they were already not separating. If the things were going badly, the husband could take a concubine; the woman sometimes was fleeing but it could be chased, for what was fleeing very far.

The adultery was punished. The adulterers were chased and his drowned children.

Between the family there was division of labor for sexes and ages. And the heredity was distributed between all the children, sometimes in life. That it had no children, could adopt them.

Marriage for abduction

Since in general, the young people had freedom on having chosen his couple, only the powerful ones realized it with girls of those who were taking a fancy. They were kidnapping them, were violating them, and then they were asking for his hand, of threatening form.
