The beautiful Xiamen port

It is the most interesting city of the province Fujian. A prosperous port inhabited by 1 million inhabitants combines the best testimonies of the China of the past with one of the best exponents of this modernity that so seriously is spoiling other cities. His wide and clean streets, his fluid traffic, his unpolluted quarters of housings, open way on having come to the port to a series of streets with his porticoes that have supported and renewed the spirit of port and TV/radio commercial of last century.

A relatively modern city founded in the Xth century, soon became more important like commercial port, being devastated by the Japanese pirates in the XVIth century. The island of Gulangyu is with difference the most interesting place to visit in Xiamen. Opposite to the coast of the city, with which it is communicated by ferries that they connect continuously, more or less every 10 � 12 minutes, it is an island without cars, without engines and without noises. Although it has a beach to the east, where numerous tourists usually crowd together, I believe that Gulangyu is to walk it calmly, to be amounting to the heights of the island, and to allow to go for the footpaths that seem more interesting, since, declared an international establishment in 1903, is preserved by a big quantity of colonial, some buildings perfectly restored, and others, way lost between the vegetation, I bear witness nevertheless of the importance of the above mentioned city.
Although it has seen impressive almost from every street, from every hook of the way, for which he wants to put a destination to his steps, the best thing is that it goes to the Rock of the Sun, which with his 97 m, allows an imposing sight of the whole city. Also there is interesting the museum of the pirate Zheng Chenggong.

Temple Nanputuo: A temple is a Buddhist of the dynasty Tang, in whom you will meet the habitual statues of Buddha in his diverse declarations. In particular they are famous the Maitreya at the entry of the temple, and the Guanyin statue with thousand arms in the pavilion Dabeidian.
